Incorporating the traditional approach of exposing students to the chronological study of the history of English Literature, the characteristic features of each literary period and the various genres and sub-genres of literature, with the political readings of literature of the present day, the University syllabus enables the students to appreciate texts both aesthetically and socio-politically to understand the principles of both literary and cultural studies. Classroom teaching is done through close textual analysis, often supplemented by high-end audiovisual aids and techniques. Apart from traditional teachings there are also tutorial sessions and informal discussion groups allowing the space for the faculty and students to interact at a more personal level. Assessment is done through continual evaluation, frequent class tests, mid-Semester examinations, term paper presentation and topic-based project report submission. The students also partake a vibrant cultural life in the college participating in debates, quizzes, drama, cine club, educational excursion and field trips.
